IN ABSENTIA

 

The best way to memorize a place is to identify it with a particular object. This object could be either a different architecture from the others or a note on a board, which text is mentioned constantly by thousands of people even though it may not have a special meaning, or a statue of a historical character. Some of them are still present and we can see whenever we pass by, others are permanently removed from the place in which they were present for years. The purpose of this work consists on identifying those places and areas related to those prominent objects at the time they existed but with a negative image and impact nowadays. Bunkers and statues of dictators, paradoxically are turned into identifying objects being used as one of the ways to represent our country abroad.
